Invisalign Aligners
Invisalign orthodontic treatment with clear aligners was invented in America in the early 2000s and has since become widely popular around the world. Treatment with this method is done by the patient using a series of invisible aligners made by taking high-precision digital measurements. The initial measurements, along with the personalized treatment plan and the patient’s initial photographs (5 intraoral and 3 extraoral), are sent electronically to the Align Technology laboratories. A few days later, a 3D electronic image of the teeth, known as ClinCheck, is sent electronically, showing the future dental movements. In this way, the patient knows the final position of their teeth even before the treatment begins. Once the Invisalign orthodontist in Athens, Dr. Angeliki Nikolopoulou, and the patient agree on the treatment plan, the production process begins.
Individual aligners must be worn 20-22 hours a day and replaced every week from week to week until the teeth move into their final positions. The number of aligners required for each patient varies according to the severity of the case. Usually the months required to complete the treatment range from 9 months for mild cases, to 18 for the most difficult cases. The Invisalign clear aligners are custom-made for each patient’s teeth, gradually shifting them week by week until they are straight and reach their final position. Using a virtual treatment plan created by specialized software, it is possible to track the sequence of movements the teeth will make throughout the treatment. This allows for a visualization of the final result in advance, unlike traditional orthodontic devices like metal braces. Invisalign clear aligners offer an orthodontic treatment ideal for all ages. The Invisalign clear aligners come with advantages such as:
- Discretion.
- Possibility of removal to follow the oral hygiene routine.
- Prevention of irritation in the oral cavity.
- Maintenance of the patient’s daily life.
